The progression in the game, like everything else in the game, is very slow. My favorite is the bow as it is quiet and it makes you feel like a real primal hunter even though you are using a really cool high-tech kind of bow. You start the game with a very basic rifle, but you eventually earn much cooler weapons. The stats though as I played showed that I scared off hundreds of animals and only managed to track around 50! Each hunt can take anywhere from an hour to two and there is no pausing! This means that you cannot just jump in for a quick session. I found that The Hunter: Call of the Wild was pretty exciting once you did manage to track down an animal. You start by finding some tracks or some animal scat and then you need you slowly and methodically stalk your prey and shoot it.Īs you progress through the game, you will get stuff like calling whistles and animal lures that can help you on your hunting journey.

Everything you do in this game has to be slow. If you want a game where you can just run around in the woods and shoot animals, this game is not for you. Each area has a set of objectives and missions like exploring and tracking and mapping an area to earn points, but you can always switch it off and just hunt what's around you.To say that this is a slow-paced game is a massive understatement. Once you find your target, you'll line up your shot and attempt to make the kill the way a real hunter would attempt to do so with a hunting rifle. You'll make your way through the game tracking the animal's trail and looking for subtle clues to where it might be. The game plays like a sandbox exploration game where you play in one of two different wooded areas, each complete with different plants and foliage, running rivers and lakes, hazards and pitfalls, and animals to hunt. THQ Nordic recently released their latest edition of theHunter series with Call Of The Wild, first on PC back in March and now on console. Whether they be the big and bulky arcade cabinets with orange rifles or your standard "try to hit that deer over there" games you find every fall. Much like golf, volleyball, and NASCAR games, there will always be an audience for hunting titles.
